Memphis Redbirds News Release

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Greg Garcia sent Redbirds fans home happy with a walk-off two-run double off Cubs closer Brian Schlitter in the bottom of the ninth inning in Memphis' come-from-behind, 2-1 win on Sunday night at AutoZone Park.

Trailing 1-0 entering the bottom of the ninth, Dean Anna got things started by doubling down the right field line, ending a stretch of 20 straight Redbirds retired by Iowa. After Tommy Pham worked a five-pitch walk, Garcia hammered the go-head double to right-center that rolled all the way to the wall to end the night.

Memphis (54-48) has won three in a row and six of its last seven games overall. The walk-off was the club's ninth last-at-bat win this season and fourth come-from-behind victory when trailing after seven innings.

The Redbirds go for the series sweep of the Cubs at 7:05pm CT on Monday night at AutoZone Park, as left-hander Marco Gonzales (0-1, 6.35) starts for Memphis while continuing his comeback from early season injury.

Iowa starter Jeffry Antigua allowed one hit over six shutout innings for a no-decision. His two blemishes were a Garcia hit-by-pitch and second-inning double by catcher Cody Stanley.

Mike Olt's second inning solo home run provided Iowa with its only offense. It was the slugger's second straight game going yard.

Redbirds starter Thomas Lee hurled another great pitching performance in a no-decision. The right-hander allowed one run on five hits over seven dominant innings. He also struck out one and walked a pair. Lee has allowed one run or less in five of his six Triple-A starts.

Rehabber Mitch Harris worked around a hit in a scoreless eighth inning before Justin Wright (1-0) struck out one in a shutout ninth.
