(Pawtucket, RI) Dalton Pompey had five hits and the Buffalo Bisons scored four times in the second inning to give Randy Wolf all the run support he needed in a 6-0 win on Saturday night at McCoy Stadium. The loss was the PawSox seventh in a row, while Buffalo - who outhit the Sox 15 to six - won for the seventh time in eight games.

For the second time this season, Wolf controlled the Sox; he held them off the scoreboard over six innings, allowed only five hits and struck out three. Jess Todd, the Pawtucket starter, was on the mound for the damaging second and lasted five innings. He surrendered eight hits and fanned eight.

After Wolf had retired the Sox in order in the first, the Bisons went to work. Andy Burns led off the inning with a double; Ty Kelly and Josh Thole then singled, which plated Burns and put Buffalo ahead 1-0. After Munenori Kawasaki walked, Dalton Pompey doubled to score two. The fourth run scored on a Travis Shaw error; on that play, Matt Hague was credited with his 64th RBI.

The PawSox had two baserunners in the third, fifth and sixth innings against Wolf (7-1) but did not score. Allen Craig had two of the Sox' six hits.

Buffalo got two more in the eighth off of Pat Light, who relieved Dayan Diaz after two scoreless innings. Pompey - who was a homer short of the cycle - tripled and scored on a Jon Berti base hit. Hague then doubled Berti home to complete the scoring.

The clubs finish the three-game series Sunday afternoon at 1:05. The PawSox will sound Keith Couch (4-9, 61.8) to the mound against Jeff Francis (4-0, 1.80). Radio coverage begins on WHJJ and online at 12:50.

Good seats for the series finale are available; call 401-724-7300 or visit the PawSox online at www.pawsox.com to get them now.
