Florence RedWolves News Release

FLORENCE, S.C.- The (24-22, 9-10 second half) Florence RedWolves were down 11-0 to the (16-28, 4-13 second half) Fayetteville SwampDogs in the fourth inning, but did not let that keep them from scoring 12 unanswered runs to beat the SwampDogs in unthinkable fashion at Sparrow Stadium Friday Night.

On Wednesday night at Sparrow Stadium the RedWolves hosted their Super Hero and Halloween in July event, which absolutely filled the stadium with tricks, treats, and Heroics.

After a five pitch first inning from Florence's starter, Clarke Schmidt, the second inning brought utter destruction for the right-handed pitcher out of South Carolina. The Fayetteville SwampDogs jumped on him for seven runs in the second inning and one in the third, drawing his night to a close early. Schmidt was pulled in the top of the third inning after issuing a leadoff walk to Carson Waln. The Florence starter was pulled after just two innings, yielding eight runs (four earned) on five hits, three walks and a strikeout.

Zac Burke relieved him for the next four innings, giving up three runs on six hits, one walk, and three strikeouts.

The Florence RedWolves trailed 11-0 going into the bottom of the fifth inning, but they did not let that hamper them down. Nick Nunziato led off the inning with a double to right field and the sticks behind him didn't let their foot off the gas. Florence scored three more times in the inning, twice in the sixth and six more times in the seventh to complete a twelve run comeback on the Fayetteville SwampDogs. All twelve runs came unanswered as the bullpen for the RedWolves kept things locked down for the latter third of the game.

Cole Lee added great support on the other side of the ball for the RedWolves, working three innings of his best outing of the season. Lee gave up just one hit in those three innings, while striking out one, earning him his third win of the season (3-1).

The Florence RedWolves improve to (25-22, 10-10 second half) on the season and remain in third place of the Western Division.

The RedWolves will be on the road to Lexington County Saturday, and will be back home Monday, July 27 to face the Blowfish again, for Sponsor Appreciation Night.
