Jackson Generals News Release

Jackson, Tenn. - Marcus Littlewood's first career multi-homer game was not enough for the Jackson Generals in a 5-4 loss Friday to the Montgomery Biscuits at The Ballpark at Jackson. The Biscuits scored three runs in the top of the ninth to grab a come-from-behind victory. Littlewood blasted a go-ahead solo shot in the sixth and added another solo home run a ninth-inning Generals comeback that fell short.

Montgomery (16-11, 50-45) had an early lead after scoring in each of the first two innings. Joey Rickard, who nearly hit for the cycle Thursday, led off Friday's game with a double and later scored on a passed ball to put the Biscuits ahead. In the top of the second, Hector Guevara lifted a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded, driving in Tyler Goeddel for a quick 2-0 lead.

Facing an early 2-0 deficit, Jackson (8-19, 37-58) rallied to tie Montgomery in the bottom of the fourth. The Generals loaded the bases with consecutive singles by Tyler Smith, D.J. Peterson and Dan Paolini. Smith scored when Lara bounced into a double play. Peterson moved to third base on the play and was driven home on a game-tying single by Littlewood that evened the score, 2-2.

Littlewood broke the tie in the sixth and carried the Generals to a 3-2 edge. After back-to-back outs to start the frame, Littlewood crushed the first pitch he saw for a go-ahead solo home run to right field.

In the top of the ninth, the Biscuits came through in the clutch with a game-winning three-run rally. Guevara pushed Montgomery ahead, 4-3, with a two-run single that scored Leonardo Reginatto and pinch-runner Justin O'Conner. Two ground balls allowed Guevera to advance and score himself for a 5-3 lead.

A ninth-inning solo shot to right field by Littlewood cut Jackson's deficit in half, but the Generals could not add another run in a 5-4 loss. Littlewood, a switch-hitting catcher that batted exclusively as a left-handed hitter Friday, went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and two runs in his first career multi-homer performance. It was Jackson's third multi-homer effort of the season, joining two from Jabari Blash back on May 13 and 20.

Ryan Garton (4-0) faced the minimum in two scoreless innings of relief and picked up the win after the Biscuits rallied for the lead in the ninth inning. Tyler Knigge (0-1) took the loss in his Generals debut, allowing an inherited runner and two other runs to come home. Brad Schreiber earned his fourth save with Montgomery after yielding one run in the ninth but holding on to the lead to finish the contest.

Jackson hosts Montgomery for game four of this five-game series Saturday at 6:05 p.m. Generals southpaw Misael Siverio (4-9, 3.93) is scheduled to pitch against Biscuits right-hander Jake Faria (2-2, 2.32). Fans unable to attend Saturday's game can listen to the action on the TJ Network (AM 1390, FM 94.1 and 94.3) starting at 5:50 p.m. CT on the Jackson Generals Pregame Show protected by the Tennessee Army National Guard. An online video stream is also available via MiLB.TV.

Saturday is Jackson's first-ever Christmas in July celebration sponsored by A+ Insurance.
