New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats lost to the Reading Fightin Phils 6-3 Friday night at New Britain Stadium. The Rock Cats committed five errors and gave back a 3-2 lead as the Phillies farm club scored four runs in the 7th inning.
Rock Cats starting pitcher Harrison Musgrave departed with a 3-2 lead after five innings but the bullpen was reached for four runs in the 7th. Reading reliever Colton Murray earned the win, while retiring all nine batters faced.
New Britain scored two runs on five hits to grab a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Jayson Langfels ripped an RBI triple and Mike Tauchman followed with a run scoring single. Reading got on the board with Brock Stassi's RBI single in the 3rd inning and then tied the game on sacrifice fly in the 5th.
The Rock Cats took a 3-2 lead in the 5th inning on Joey Wong's sac fly, scoring Pat Valiaka.
The Rock Cats continue the 4-game weekend series against the Reading Fightin Phils tomorrow night at New Britain Stadium (7:05 PM).
