York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution won a game for the ages on Friday night at Santander Stadium, as Andres Perez launched a Michael Click fastball into orbit, high and deep into the York night, way over the left field Arch Nemesis as the Revs defeated the Camden Riversharks by a final score of 4-3 in front of 4,092 fans on-hand for the series opener. The Revs have won three of their last four overall including three straight home games, while picking up their sixth walk-off victory of the season. York will look to extend the home winning streak on Saturday night.

After battling back to tie the game in the eighth, the Revs notched the victory in exhilarating fashion in the ninth. Leading off the inning, Perez battled Click (3-1) deep in the count before connecting on his epic blast that disappeared deep over the Arch Nemesis, prompting a wild celebration as teammates streamed toward home plate while Perez admired his stunningly long drive.

Eric Patterson led off the scoring for the Revs in the first off of Camden starter Wes Torrez, lacing an RBI single to right-center to bring home Mikey Reynolds who had led off the game with a base knock of his own.

Matt Neil took the hill for the Revs and was effective in his first three innings of work, but exited the game in the fourth with an apparent injury.

The Riversharks got to Neil in the fourth with a pair of leadoff walks before his exit, then scored courtesy of a Joel Guzman sac fly and a Michael Rockett RBI double, which put Camden in the lead by a score of 2-1.

Camden added a run in the sixth off of reliever Ty'Relle Harris, with Guzman depositing a pitch over the Arch Nemesis in left for a solo homer to increase the lead to 3-1.

The Revs would quickly answer with a homer of their own, as Bryan Pounds smashed a solo shot to left-center with two outs in the sixth to again bring York within a run at 3-2. It was Pounds' fifth home run in his last nine games.

Still down one in the bottom of the eighth, Wilson Valdez roped an opposite field triple over the outfielders' heads in the right-center gap to lead off the inning against Riversharks reliever Rob Bryson, but with a swinging strikeout of Patterson and a Brandon Boggs shallow fly ball, it looked as if the triple would go to waste. Pounds made sure that wasn't the case, lining a 1-2 pitch for a two-out base hit into left to tie the ballgame at 3-3. With two RBI on the night, Pounds has driven in 14 runs over his last 10 games.

The bullpen kept the Revs in the game and would ultimately allow them to mount a late inning comeback. Edward Paredes finished the fourth inning after Neil's departure, while Harris allowed just one run in a season-high three innings. Beau Vaughan stranded two in scoring position in the eighth, and Stephen Penney (3-2) pitched a scoreless ninth with three ground ball outs to earn the win.

The Revs look to make it two in-a-row on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. as lefty Rommie Lewis (6-7, 3.70) takes on Camden righty Sean Gleason (5-9, 4.13) on Christmas in July at Santander Stadium, featuring a DownTown T-Shirt Giveaway presented by the Law Firm of Dale E. Anstine to the first 1,000 fans. It is also Bike Night featuring a Pregame Parade of Chrome, and there will be Postgame Fireworks and a Custom Hat Auction presented by Never Forgotten BBQ. Tickets are on sale at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.

Notes: The Revs have won three of their last four overall and a season-best three straight at home. York improves to 7-8 in the second half. Penney earned his club record 13th relief win in his record 199th appearance all-time with York, as the righty worked a perfect inning for the fourth straight appearance. Perez' homer marked his 42nd all-time with York, tying Jason Aspito for third-most in club history. Perez becomes the first in Revs history to collect three walk-off hits in his York career and the first to connect on two walk-off home runs. He also becomes the first in team history to notch two walk-off hits including a home run in the same season. The six walk-off wins as a team already matches last season's total. It was the Revs' third victory of the season when trailing after six/seven innings. York improves to 6-2 vs. Camden this season.
