All Star Game Recap
The Alexandria Blue Anchors had three players in this weeks Northwoods League All Star Game. Those three players were first baseman Ricky Sanchez (Notre Dame), second baseman Steve Sada (Miami of Ohio) and outfielder Josh Merrigan (North Carolina). All three were in the North Division's starting lineup.
Merrigan batted cleanup and went 1-for-2 in the game with a single in the fourth inning. Sanchez, the only first baseman on the North's roster, went 0-for-3 in the game. Sada, who played the entire game, was 0-for-3 at the plate as well.
Pitching dominated the entire game as just four runs were scored in the game combined. The South Division defeated the North 3-1.
Upcoming Games
It's not too late to get tickets for tonight's Summer St. Patty's Day presented by Beverage Wholesalers. The Anchors take on the Mankato MoonDogs at 7:05 pm. The team will be wearing green jerseys which will be auctioned off during the game for fans to win. When fans by a beer on tap, they will be given a collectable Blue Anchors beer mug.
Saturday's game is Scout Night. Fans who purchase tickets through the local scouts can reserve a spot in the outfield to camp out after the game. That game, against the Duluth Huskies, starts at 7:05 pm.
We're calling all superheros to the Shipyard for Sunday's game on Superhero Night. Fans in costume can get tickets for just $4. The Anchors wrap-up their series with Duluth at 5:05 pm.
The rival Willmar Stingers come back to Alexandria on Monday. The Midwest Dueling Pianos will be at the ballpark courtesy of Billmarks' Insurance. Midwest Dueling Pianos provide great entertainment for fans and the Shipyard will certainly be rocking all night. That game starts at 7:05 pm.
Wednesday's game is Kids Day presented by Cubs Foods. There will be entertainment for kids all throughout the game which starts at 12:05 pm against the Stingers.
The homestand continues on Thursday with Vintage Car Night presented by American National Insurance. There will be many vintage cars on display and fans can vote on their favorite vehicle. The Thunder Bay Border Cats are in town and first pitch is at 7:05 pm.
NASCAR Night presented by 3M is always a fan favorite. Fans in attendance will go home with a roll of duct tape and 3M will have their official NASCAR on display. Friday's game starts at 7:05 against the Border Cats.
