Bees Go Deep in 6-5 Win

(Beloit-WI)- The Burlington Bees (46-51) used three homers to beat the Beloit Snappers (39-58) 6-5, Thursday night at Pohlman Field in Beloit.

Tim Arakawa started the ball game by extending his hitting streak to nine games, tying a team best. The next hitter, Jake Yacinich, clubbed a two run home run over the right field wall, his second of the season, giving the Bees a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. With one out in the top of the second inning, Ayendy Perez pushed a bunt to the right side for a base hit. After Tim Arakawa walked, Jake Yacinich knocked in his third run of the night, lining a single to left, scoring Perez, upping the Bees' lead to 3-0.

Bees' starter Keynan Middleton retired the first four batters he face before walking James Harris in the bottom of the second inning. Jose Brizuela then his a two run home run, cutting the Bees' lead to 3-2. After Middleton retired the lead off man in the third inning, Joe Bennie rifled a double to left and then scored on a Trent Gilbert single to center, tying the game at three.

Zach Houchins added to his team lead in doubles, pulling a double to the wall, his 19th of the season, to start the sixth inning. Trevor Gretzky gave the Bees the lead back, hitting a towering two run home run to right, putting the #Bees on top, 5-3. The Bees continued to show their power as Trever Allen hit his third home run of the season, a solo shot to left, extending the Bees' lead to 6-3 in the seventh.

James Harris started the bottom of the seventh inning by lining a single to center but was erased when Jose Brizuela hit into a fielders' choice. With two runners on and two outs, Shawn Duinkerk singled to right, scoring Brizuela, cutting the Bees' lead to two. Joe Bennie then hit a ground ball to third, under the glove of Houchins, scoring Justin Higley, making the score, 6-5. Eduardo Paredes workes a qucik ninth inning, securing the Bees' win. Bees starter Keynan Middleton (5-7) earned the win, Snappers' starter Brett Graves (9-4) was charged with the loss and Edauardo Paredes (17) earned the save.
