Tacoma Rainiers News Release

TACOMA, Wash. -- Patrick Kivlehan's three-run home run lifted the Tacoma Rainiers to a 3-2 win over the Salt Lake Bees at Cheney Stadium on Wednesday night.

Tacoma trailed 1-0 before the outfielder belted a three-run shot deep to left-center field with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning. The home run served as Kivlehan's team-leading 16th with the Rainiers this season. He has now homered three times over his last eight games and five times over his last 15 outings.

The Bees narrowed Tacoma's lead to a run after Roger Kieschnick doubled and then scored on a passed ball in the top of the seventh. But the runs stopped there and Tacoma snapped its most recent losing skid at three games.

Jesus Montero led the lineup after going 3-for-4 with a double. The first baseman now leads the Pacific Coast League with 117 hits. He entered Wednesday's contest ranked third in the PCL with a .330 batting average.

Starter Roeni Elias (3-0) collected the loss after holding Salt Lake to two runs - one earned - on six hits through 6.1 innings. The right-hander fanned five and walked two in his seventh start with the Rainiers this season. Danny Farquhar collected the final out to garner his second save with Tacoma of 2015.

The Rainiers (46-52) host the final game of a four-game series with Salt Lake (40-58) at 7:05 p.m. tomorrow, July 22. Right-hander Chien-Ming Wang is slated to make his second start with Tacoma against Bees left-hander Adam Wilk (3-7, 5.80).
