WASHINGTON, PA - The Wild Things and the Lake Erie Crushers faced off in game two of the Turnpike Series on Wednesday, July 22 at CONSOL Energy Park. Washington was unable to come out on top, falling by a score of 9-5. Wild Things starter Richie Mirowski suffered the loss while Crushers starter Zach Morton earned the win.

Game two featured some early offense from both lineups. The Wild Things were able to score two runs in the first inning thanks to three straight hits from the top of the lineup. The inning was highlighted by designated hitter Matt Peters' RBI double, which was his first hit of three on the night. Right fielder Scott Kalamar hit a sac-fly deep to left field that scored Peters for the second run of the inning. The Crushers put three runs of their own on the board which included an RBI triple from shortstop Juan Sanchez.

Lake Erie would add three more runs in the top of the third inning, putting an end to Mirowski's night. Mirowski struck out six batters in his three innings of work.

Washington center fielder Andrew Heck added an RBI triple in the bottom of the fourth inning to help chip away at the Crushers lead. In the sixth inning, second baseman Matt Ford also chipped at the three-run deficit with an RBI double that scored Kalamar. Ford finished his evening going 3-4 with an RBI and run scored.

In the top of the ninth inning, Lake Erie would add to their vantage with another three run inning thanks to run-scoring hits from Chandler Brock and Jose Barraza. Wild Things first baseman Lee Orr stepped up in the bottom of the ninth inning and tried to add a spark with a line drive homerun, but it was not enough as Lake Erie took game two 9-5.
