BC Lions Tangle with Argos Friday Presented by Save on Foods

Another exciting BC Lions home game is on tap and there's no better way to get game night started than with the BC Lions Tailgate Party presented by Nissan starting at 5:00 pm on Terry Fox Plaza. The new and improved pre-game bash which includes a beer garden and menu stocked with barbeque favourites was a big hit with fans two weeks ago and has quickly becoming the place to be for Lions supporters.

Live music on Friday will come courtesy of Paul Luongo & The Digs and a performance by the Felions is also on-deck for the Tailgate Party along with lots of great family activities while early-bird food and beverage pricing is in effect inside BC Place from 6:00 to 6:30 pm. The first 5,000 fans through the gates over the age of 18 will receive gift cards ranging in value between $5 and $500 courtesy of Save On Foods.

This season, the Lions are pleased to feature a pregame and halftime panel hosted by Christie Buono which will tap into the football expertise of former Leos. This week, Geroy Simon and Brent Johnson are joined on the panel by former Lions linebacker Daved Benefield.

For Lions fans looking for a bit of a different game-day vibe, the new Club Orange features unique food and beverage options, a live DJ and plenty of club atmosphere for $40 plus applicable fees and taxes.

Game Overview

The BC Lions (2-1) play host to the Toronto Argonauts (2-1) in an intriguing cross-divisional tilt on Friday night at BC Place. Fans across BC and those heading down to the game can tune into the TSN1040 pregame show starting at 5:00 pm.

The Lions are coming off two big wins over the Saskatchewan Roughriders including Friday's 27-24 road effort and sit in a second-place tie in the West Division with the Edmonton Eskimos with a 2-1 record on the year. Toronto rolls into Vancouver after a bye-week and will be well rested as they look to build on a similar 2-1 record which is tops in the East Division.

Travis Lulay, who was named the CFL's Top Performer a week ago, did almost as much damage with his feet (105 rushing yards) as he did with his arm (127 passing yards) in Regina, but with another 94 yards on the ground and 24 more through the air coming from running back Andrew Harris to go along with a pair of TD receptions from newcomer A.C. Leonard, the Lions pounded-out a huge series-clinching win over the 'Riders.

Perhaps most impressive over the past two weeks is the play of the club's offensive line which did not give up a sack in back-to-back games against a talented Saskatchewan defensive line. It all starts in the trenches and the Lions will look to the big men up front to set an early tone versus a tough Argos defence.

Speaking of defence, the Lions will get their first look at Argos pivot Trevor Harris as the talented back-up carries the load while Ricky Ray continues with his shoulder rehabilitation. Harris' 74.7 completion percentage and efficiency rating of 121.5 are tops among all CFL quarterbacks which means Friday's game could be another offensive shootout similar to the Lions' overtime thriller two weeks ago.

Since returning to their home digs at BC Place midway through the 2011 campaign, the Lions have built-up an impressive 25-7 regular season home record and are 7-3 versus the Boatmen over their past 10 meetings. It's a key matchup between two clubs looking to keep their early-season momentum moving forward as the Lions and Argos tangle Friday night.
