Main Camp Concludes

Over the weekend, the Aberdeen Wings held their annual Main Camp in Mendota Heights, Minnesota. The Wings are preparing for their 6th season in the North American Hockey League. The 2015-2016 season will see some new faces come into Aberdeen as well as many returning players.

Main Camp opened Thursday night with an orientation meeting where Wings head coach Francis Anzalone addressed the players at the Ramada Inn. For the next three days, the Wings coaching and scouting staff evaluated all players in attendance. Those included returning players, drafted players, tenders, and free agent players. There were a total of 4 teams with each player getting playing time in 4 games. Later in camp, the Wings hosted 2 all-star games and 1 future prospects game.

"The pace and competitiveness of the Main Camp were both high," said Wings head coach Francis Anzalone. "The Main Camp featured a lot of diverse players of various ages, skill sets and backgrounds."

The scouting and coaching staff will now address team needs and begin building their roster for Training Camp which will begin August 24th in Aberdeen.

"We are excited to see the group at training camp in Aberdeen next month," added Anzalone.

In attendance at the 2015 Main Camp was head coach Francis Anzalone, assistant coach Mike Grattan, the entire Wings scouting staff, Wings front office officials, and Wings owner Greg Odde. The stands also featured collegiate coaches. Every player that attended Main Camp received a face-to-face exit meeting.

The Aberdeen Wings organization would like to thank the St. Thomas Ice Arena staff and host hotel location the Ramada Inn of Bloomington.
