Bradley's Two Homers Not Enough in 7-3 Loss

(Norfolk, VA) - Jackie Bradley, Jr. hit two homers for the second time on the road trip but the Norfolk Tides defeated the Pawtucket Red Sox, 7-3, Monday night in the series opener at Harbor Park.
The PawSox (41-55) struck first off Chris Jones (6-4) on Bradley's two-run shot into the right-field bullpen. Norfolk responded with two unearned runs in their first turn against Jess Todd (3-4). Christian Walker - Braldey, Jr's teammate at South Carolina - produced the first Tides run with a ground out and Dariel Alvarez delivered a sacrifice fly.
Jones earned the victory for the Tides (53-41), hurling seven strong innings on seven hits and three runs. Todd tossed a season-high seven innings, but suffered the loss, giving up seven runs (five earned) on 10 hits.
Norfolk took a 4-2 lead in the second inning with two runs on four hits. Michael Almanzar led off with a double and scored on a double play. Walker added his second RBI of the game on a run-scoring single with two outs.
Bradley hit his second big-fly with one out in the third inning off Jones. Norfolk took a 5-3 lead on a sac-fly by Urrutia in the fourth. Walker and Rey Navarro (3-for-4) each hit solo-homers to cap off the scoring for Norfolk.
Pat Light worked his second perfect inning of the trip. Former Red Sox farmhands Cesar Cabral and Pedro Beato tossed scoreless frames for Norfolk.
Pawtucket and Norfolk meet up in game two of their four-game series on Tuesday night at Harbor Park. RHP Keith Couch (4-8, 5.56) makes his 20th appearance (18th start) for the PawSox. Norfolk counters with RHP Mike Wright (6-0, 2.96). Pregame coverage begins on WHJJ and online at 6:50.
