Curve Drop Finale at Richmond, 6-3

RICHMOND, Va. - Max Moroff had three hits for the second straight game, including a solo home run in the ninth, but the Altoona Curve lost the series finale to the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 6-3, on Sunday afternoon at The Diamond.

The Curve (50-44) lost three-of-five games against Richmond coming out of the All-Star Break.

Richmond opened a two-run lead in the second inning against Curve starter Zack Dodson (Loss, 4-7) with an RBI single by Devin Harris and a run-scoring groundout by Jackson Williams. An RBI double by Hunter Cole and back-to-back RBI singles by Harris and Williams in the third put Richmond ahead 5-0.

The Curve chipped away with an RBI groundout by Josh Bell in the fifth and a sacrifice fly by Edward Salcedo in the sixth.

After a run in the eighth for Richmond, Moroff hit his fourth home run of the season in the ninth to pull the Curve within three, but Braulio Lara (Save, 1) finished off the game.

Dodson allowed five earned runs on nine hits over his five innings with three walks and three strikeouts.

Richmond starter Joe Biagini (Win, 8-5) allowed one run on five hits over five innings.

The Curve return to PNG Field on Monday to begin a four-game series with the Erie SeaWolves. Right-hander Jason Creasy (8-2, 3.91) takes the mound, countered by Erie righty Tommy Collier (2-0, 2.35). First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
