July 18, 2015 - American Association (AA)
Sioux City Explorers News Release

The Sioux City Explorers lose the final game of their series to Laredo, 9-2 at Lewis and Clark Park. X's first baseman Ino Patron continued what's been a very successful series for the 5'10 200 pound left-hander, tripling in the seventh inning and later scoring the second run of the game for Sioux City.

Laredo scored early and often in the beginning innings, plating a run in the first, two in the second and two in the fourth, to give them the early 5-0 lead in the final game of the series.

In the bottom half of the fourth, X's right-fielder Michael Lang reached first on a fielders choice, advanced to second off a Noah Perio single, stole third base and scored off an error by the Lemurs catcher to cut the lead 5-1.

The Lemurs tacked on four more runs in the sixth, to give them nine total in the game. Laredo's designated hitter Jeudy Valdez knocked in two with a double, and then first baseman Dustin Geiger hit a two run homer scoring Valdez.

Sioux City scored one more run in the seventh off some smooth play by X's Utility man Ino Patron. The left-handed hitter smacked an 0-1, one out triple and then scored from third off a wild pitch to cut the lead 9-2, which would go on to be the final score of the game.

Explorers starter Eric Wordekepmer was charged with the loss, allowing five runs in 3.1 innings pitched. Lemurs starting pitcher Matt Loosen received the win. The right-hander went five solid innings, allowing one run on four hits, three walks and six strikeouts.

The Sioux City Explorers will have an off day Sunday (July 19th) and will start a three game series with the Lincoln Saltdogs Monday-Wednesday (July 20-22nd). For additional information, please call 712-277-WINS (9467) or email promotions@xsbaseball.com.
