KNOXVILLE, TN (July 17, 2015) - The Knoxville Ice Bears proudly announce the release of the 2015-2016 regular season schedule. The Knoxville Ice Bears will look to defend their SPHL President's Cup Championship beginning this October for their 14th season of hockey in Knoxville.
The Knoxville Ice Bears will start the new season on the road with the newest member of the SPHL, the Macon Mayham on Friday, October 23 in Macon, GA. The Ice Bears' first home game will be Saturday, October 24 as they host longtime rivals, Columbus Cottonmouths. Prior to puck drop, the Ice Bears will be hoisting their fourth banner into the rafters.
"I am very happy with this season's schedule" said team President & GM Mike Murray. "Having 21 Friday/Saturdays out of a 28 Home Game schedule always gives a good chance for success at the gate. This is also the first time we have opted for some Tuesday home games as this has spread out some of the 3 games in 3 night scenarios we had endured in the past. With the 7 combined Tuesday, Thursday scenarios our staff is targeting them as 'Black Ts' where fans who wear a special black shirt will receive discounted tickets and exclusive opportunities around town. These games will have a start time of 7:05 PM so more can attend and be home at more reasonable time."
In part of the off season activities, the Knoxville Ice Bears will be hosting a summer championship gathering on Saturday, August 1 from 6 - 9 p.m. at the Casual Pint Northshore.
