Long Island Ducks News Release

(Lancaster, Penn., July 16, 2015) - The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Lancaster Barnstormers 8-1 on Thursday night in the finale of a four-game series at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

Lancaster opened up a 3-0 lead with single runs in the second, third and fourth innings against Ducks starter Bobby Blevins. Lance Zawadzki's solo home run and a RBI single by Keith Castillo highlighted the scoring. Long Island got on the scoreboard in the fifth on a solo home run by Steve McQuail, his first with the Flock, off of Barnstormers starter Ray Hanson. However, a run-scoring double by Brian Cavazos Galvez in the bottom of the frame pushed the advantage back to three.

The Barnstormers put the game out of reach with a three-run sixth. A sacrifice fly to left by Anderson Feliz and a two-run homer from Zach Collier did the damage. A run-scoring wild pitch thrown by Matt Soren in the eighth rounded out the scoring.

Hanson (1-0) earned the win, tossing five innings, allowing one run on six hits while striking out two. Blevins (1-1) picked up the loss, surrendering seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits over six innings but struck out seven batters.

Delta Cleary, Jr. had two hits to lead the Ducks offensively.

The Ducks return home on Friday to open up a three-game set against the Patriots. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive Ducks Logo T-Shirts, courtesy of the YMCA of Long Island. It will also be a Fowl Pole, Pizza Hut K-Man and Air Trampoline Sports Friday at the ballpark. Right-hander Billy Buckner gets the start for the Ducks against Patriots righty Randy Boone.

Those unable to make the game can follow all of the action live on the Ducks' flagship radio station 103.9-FM LI News Radio.
