Visalia Rawhide News Release

LAKE ELSINORE--For the 2nd straight game, the Rawhide let a late lead get away...in fact, this time they let it get away twice. But, for the 2nd straight game, Daniel Palka came up clutch to give the 'Hide the victory.

Palka's 2-out, 2-run single in the 13th put Visalia over the top for a 6-4 win over Lake Elsinore on Wednesday night at The Diamond.

The Rawhide took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the 7th, after Palka's home run in the 4th, a wild pitch that scored Alex Glenn in the 6th, and Mitch Haniger's sacrifice fly in the 7th.

Brandon Sinnery was cruising along for the 'Hide, having allowed only 3 hits until there were 2 out in the last of the 7th frame.

But then the Storm sparked to life, as 5 consecutive batters reached; the first 3 did so against Sinnery, and the last 2 against Bud Jeter. Austin Bousfield capped off the rally with a 2-run single,to tie the game at 3.

The Rawhide regained the lead in the top of the 8th; Palka walked, stole 2nd, and scored on Fidel Pena's 2-out double.

Lake Elsinore rallied again in the bottom of the 9th, though; Gabriel Quintana led off with a double, moved to 3rd on a sacrifice bunt, and scored on a fielder's choice. It was 4-4.

Both teams missed chances over the next few innings; the 'Hide left a man at 2nd in the 10th and 11th, while the Storm left men at 2nd and 3rd in the 10th and had the winning run at 3rd with just 1 out in the 12th. But Johnny Shuttlesworth worked out of the jam, sending the game to the 13th frame.

And in the 13th, the 'Hide broke through; Ryan Gebhardt led off with a double, and with 1 out, he advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch. Domingo Leyba walked, then stole 2nd as Kevin Cron struck out.

That brought up Palka, and the Storm elected to pitch to him. And on a 1-0 count, Palka lasered a 2-run base hit high off the big green wall in right field, plating both runners and giving the 'Hide a 6-4 lead.

Mason McCullough pitched the bottom of the 13th for the save, and the Rawhide improved to 14-5 in the 2nd Half and 56-33 overall.

They'll continue the series and road trip tomorrow at 7:00.
