Jacksonville Sharks News Release

JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Sharks announced Wednesday that defensive back Keon Lyn has been assigned to the Jacksonville roster on a one-year rookie contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 26-year-old Lyn (6'1", 205) heads to the Arena Football League after stints in both the National Football League and Canadian Football League. He originally signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent following the 2014 NFL Draft, but was then waived by Indianapolis in June of that year. Most recently, Lyn spent time with the CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers prior to the start of the 2015 season. Lyn also participated in the inaugural NFL Veterans Combine, held this past March.

Prior to the start of his professional career, Lyn attended Syracuse University. A regular in the Orange's defensive backfield, Lyn suffered a season-ending knee injury five games into his senior campaign in 2013. The previous year, he started 10 of Syracuse's 13 games, setting career highs with 46 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, three interceptions and 10 passes defended. Lyn made nine starts as a sophomore in 2011, totaling 23 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss and three passes defended, and also saw limited action as a freshman in 2010.

A native of South Florida, Lyn attended Miramar High School, where he helped lead the Patriots to a state championship as a senior in 2009.

The Sharks also announced Wednesday that the team has activated offensive lineman Ray McNeil from inactive reserve, placed offensive lineman Moqut Ruffins on inactive reserve, and placed defensive back Xavier Brewer on recallable reassignment. Following the transactions, the Jacksonville roster remains at the League maximum of 24 active players.
