Dogs Topped in Pitcher's Duel

July 14, 2015 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Fayetteville SwampDogs and the Wilson Tobs engaged in a great pitcher's duel Tuesday night at J.P. Riddle Stadium, with the Tobs coming out on top 2-0.

Aaron Lesiak (Soph./Presbyterian) got the start for the SwampDogs and was fantastic, allowing only two runs (one earned) on five hits through seven innings of work. He retired the final eight batters to face him after surrendering a solo homer to Tobs outfielder Rahiem Cooper in the fifth inning.

Meanwhile, the SwampDogs' bats were unable to solve Tob starter Mason Keen all night long, as the team recorded only five hits all night. Keen went the distance for Wilson, striking out seven and not issuing a walk.

Lesiak got the hard-luck loss for the SwampDogs, falling to 1-3 despite the quality start. Keen advances his record to 2-1 with the complete game win.

The SwampDogs (15-23) hit the road Wednesday to take on the Florence RedWolves, before returning home on Thursday, July 16th to host the Asheboro Copperheads at 7:05 pm on the Salute to Military Families presented by USAA. For tickets call 910-426-5900.
