KANNAPOLIS, NC - Alexander Simon had two hits and drove in three runs, two on a first-inning double as Kannapolis opened a three-game series with an 8-2 win over the BlueClaws on Tuesday night.

The BlueClaws, who had won seven of their last ten games, fell behind in the first inning and trailed the rest of the way in the first game of their seven game trip. Lakewood falls to 10-9/43-44 and lost on what was a chance to get back over .500 on the season for the first time since June 16th.

Kannapolis scored three times in the first inning off Tyler Viza, taking the lead, a lead they would not give up, on a two-run Alexander Simon double and adding another on a Michael Suiter RBI single. Viza took the loss and fell to 4-5.

Kannapolis extended their lead in the fourth on a Michael Danner groundout scoring Suiter, who doubled, and in the fifth on a Simon RBI double. Viza came out after the fifth, allowing five runs on eight hits. The Intimidators added two runs off Scott Harris in the sixth inning on an RBI triple by Danner and an RBI single by Ethan Gross.
