Saginaw Spirit's Director of Broadcasting and Communications to Move On

The Saginaw Spirit announce today that the franchise's Director of Broadcasting and Communications Leigh Cunningham will be leaving the team after seven seasons to join the OHL's Sarnia Sting and Blackburn Radio in Sarnia. Cunningham will assume the position of play by play broadcaster on CHOK Radio in Sarnia, along with taking a role with the Sarnia Sting's front office. The Sarnia, Ontario native's final day with the Spirit will be July 24th, 2015, and the search for his replacement will begin immediately.
Cunningham joined the Spirit in October, 2008 and reflects on his time in the Great Lakes Bay region and the new challenge ahead in Sarnia.
"First off I would like to thank Dick Garber, Craig Goslin, and the Saginaw Spirit Organization for a great seven year run and to opportunity to work with some terrific people in the Spirit front office and hockey department during my time with the team. My gratitude extends to the fans of the Spirit, to Digity Radio Saginaw and those who work in the media in the region who I interacted with closely over the years. I made a number of lifelong friends here, and with that I am very much looking forward to the future back home in Sarnia where I again will have the privilege of working with same great people with the Sting and Blackburn Radio, many of whom I know very well and will be reacquainted with professionally.
Saginaw Spirit President Craig Goslin also commented on the change to the team's front office.

Leigh Cunningham is one of the talented, good people that has become an integral ingredient to the business model that we have built with the Saginaw Spirit. On behalf of Dick Garber and the entire Saginaw Spirit Franchise, we will miss Leigh and his many talents that have helped the Saginaw Spirit become a premier Ontario Hockey League franchise. Leigh and his voice have become synonymous with Spirit Hockey. He also has become part of the fabric of the Great Lakes Bay Region community, and we wish Leigh well in moving back to his home in Sarnia."
