Corpus Christi IceRays News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS - The Corpus Christi IceRays, in conjunction with the North American Hockey League (NAHL), released their schedule for the 2015-16 schedule this afternoon. The IceRays will open their 18th hockey season and 6th year in the NAHL on Friday, Sep. 18 in Topeka. Following a trip to the NAHL Showcase on Sep. 23-26, the IceRays open their home schedule on Friday, Oct. 2 against the Amarillo Bulls.

The NAHL begins its fifth-straight season playing a 60-game format with four games reserved for the NAHL Showcase. The South Division returns with six members after the relocation of Rio Grande Valley to the East Division and the departure of Wenatchee to the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). The home to road game ratio in each half of the season is exactly balanced: 15 games both home and away from the American Bank Center.

The IceRays will play all divisional opponents at least eight times - eight times against Topeka and 12 times versus Amarillo, Lone Star, Odessa, and Wichita Falls. This season, the IceRays will make two trips to the Kansas Expocentre and add four games to all of their returning South Division opponents with the exception of Odessa, visiting all other opponents for three weekends. The IceRays will play a minimum of four games each month spanning from September through April with 10 games in October and January.

The early part of the season includes 12 of the first 16 games against Amarillo, Topeka, and Wichita Falls. The IceRays host six of their first eight games in October at home from the American Bank Center including the first two weekends of the month. Following a Halloween trip to Wichita Falls to end October, the IceRays will have a weekend off to open November before their first trip to the Permian Basin to play the Jackalopes on Nov. 13. The IceRays will host two three-in-three series at home against the defending South Division Champion Lone Star Brahmas with the first occurring Nov. 19-21. The team ends November with another weekend off.

As the IceRays cross into the second half of the season following the holiday season, they hit their toughest stretch of the season with four games in five days starting with their sole in-week series on Tuesday, Dec. 29 and Wednesday, Dec. 30 at home versus Odessa before beginning an extended six-game road trip on Friday, Jan. 1 in Topeka. That road trip spans from Jan. 1 through Jan. 16 and stops in Topeka, Wichita Falls, and Lone Star.

Following four games at home to end January, the IceRays will play five-straight games against the Brahmas starting on Feb. 5 in Lone Star and concluding with their second three-in-three at home on Feb. 11-13. From that point, the IceRays will trade weekends at home and on the road through the middle of March, where they will conclude their home schedule with back-to-back home weekends from March 25 - April 2. The 2015-16 regular season concludes in Wichita Falls on April 7-8.

This year's NAHL Top Prospect Tournament will be held on February 15-16 in Plymouth, Mich. Specific details of the event have not yet been released.

The 2015-16 promotional schedule and broadcast information will be released later this month.
