First Pro Home Run for Kingery in Rain-Shortened 5-2 BlueClaws Win

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Austin Davis threw a five-inning complete game and Scott Kingery hit his first professional home run as the BlueClaws topped Hickory 5-2 in a rain-shortened five innings on Thursday night at FirstEnergy Park.

The BlueClaws scored all five of their runs in the second inning off starter Brett Martin - Joel Fisher started things with an RBI single, a run scored on a double-play, and then with two outs, Drew Stankiewicz added an RBI single and Scott Kingery hit a two-run home run, his first professional long ball.

The win improves the BlueClaws to 8-7/41-42 and gives them two straight wins while Hickory falls to 7-8/51-32.

In addition to his home run, Kingery added a single and was 2-2 in the game.

Austin Davis went the whole way for Lakewood, allowing two runs on six hits over five innings, improving to 1-2. Martin came out after allowing five runs in 1.2 innings and fell to 3-4.

The umpires stopped play after four and a half innings following a 38-minute delay.

The series continues on Friday night. LHP Elniery Garcia (6-6) starts for Lakewood against LHP Yohander Mendez (1-1).
