Seattle Reign FC News Release

SEATTLE (July 9, 2015) - Fresh off her FIFA Women's World Cup title as a member of the U.S. Women's National Team (USWNT), Seattle Reign FC forward Megan Rapinoe will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to Sunday's Seattle Mariners game at 1:10 p.m. against the Los Angeles Angels at Safeco Field.

Rapinoe, 30, appeared in six games for the USWNT during the World Cup, scoring two goals in a 3-1 group play win against Australia on June 8. The Redding, Calif. native and Seattle resident has 108 caps, and 31 goals in her international career. Rapinoe earned her 100th cap with the USWNT on April 4 of this year and became the 31st women in USWNT history to achieve the century mark.

Prior to the start of the World Cup, Rapinoe appeared in three matches for Reign FC. During the season opener on April 13, the forward netted her first-ever career hat trick in a 5-1 victory of the Western New York Flash.

Since joining Reign FC in 2013, Rapinoe has played in 24 regular season games for Seattle, scoring 12 goals and tallying four assists in that time.

Sunday's game will be televised live on ROOT Sports Northwest, with a radio broadcast on 710 ESPN Seattle and the Mariners Radio Network across the Pacific Northwest.

Rapinoe joins the likes of Carrie Brownstein, Bill Withers, Richard Sherman, and Clint Dempsey as notable figures to garner first pitch honors during the 2015 season.
