Patterson's Homer Gives Nuts Brief Lead in Wild 6-5 Loss

Adelanto, CA. - Jordan Patterson gave the Modesto Nuts the lead in the top of the ninth, but the High Desert Mavericks plated two in the bottom of the ninth to walk-off against the Nuts 6-5 at Heritage Field on Monday night.
The Mavs (41-39; 4-7) scored four runs in the first two innings. The Nuts (40-41; 7-4) came back with a solo home run from Raimel Tapia in the third, a run in the eighth and three in the ninth to take a short-lived lead.
With the Nuts down to their final strike in the top of the ninth, Patterson whacked a go-ahead, two-run homer to center field off John Fasola (W, 1-1) to give the Nuts the lead 5-4 advantage.
In the bottom of the ninth, Chris Garia hit a line drive to left off Matt Carasiti (L, 3-6) that was misplayed by Dillon Thomas allowing a run to score and Garia to reach second. Garia then stole third with one out. Alberto Triunfel followed and lifted a ball to right field in foul territory. Rosell Herrera made the catch and Garia scored easily from third to win the game for the Mavs.
Harrison Musgrave started for the Nuts and settled down after giving up four runs in the first two innings. He finished after six allowing just one more hit and no more runs over his final four innings of work.
Trey Lambert tossed six inning for the Mavs while striking out six and allowing just one run.
