Tacoma Rainiers News Release

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Grizzlies notched 11 hits on the way to an 8-2 victory over the Tacoma Rainiers on Monday night at Chukchansi Park.

Tacoma starting pitcher Forrest Snow was tagged with the loss after allowing a season-high four runs on eight hits in his 5.0 innings of work - he walked three and struck out four.

Fresno got to Snow for three runs in the opening frame with a pair of singles and stolen bases to open the inning, followed later by back-to-back run-scoring doubles to take a 3-0 lead.

Justin Ruggiano was responsible for both of the Rainiers runs, scoring on a passed ball in the second inning and singling in Jesus Montero in the third inning.

Reliever Andrew Kittredge escaped an inherited bases-loaded, no-out situation in the sixth inning unscathed, but walked the first three batters he faced in the seventh inning to set up a grand slam home run from Max Stassi that pushed Fresno's lead to 8-2.

Ruggiano and Carlos Rivero managed the only multi-hit performances for the Rainiers, while Jesus Montero, Stefen Romero, Erik Kratz, and Zach Shank all swatted singular base knocks to round out Tacoma's offensive effort.

The Rainiers and Grizzlies wrap up their four-game series tomorrow, July 7. The Rainiers are expected to send lefty Roenis Elias (2-0, 8.04) to the mound to work against Fresno right-hander Mike Hauschild (1-1, 3.38). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
