Another Walk-Off Win for the Birds

SIOUX FALLS, SD-The Sioux Falls (19-24) offense came back to life on Monday night as Canaries hitters drove in twelve runs on sixteen hits. Jason Repko had the game winning hit in the bottom of the ninth to drive in Brian Humphries in route to a 12-11 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs (15-28) at Sioux Falls Stadium.
Lincoln answered first in the top of the second when Jeremy Hamilton singled in Curt Smith for the first run of the game. Mike Gilmartin followed next as he would reach on an error by first baseman David Bergin that eventually scored Mitch Canham. In the top of the third, the Saltdogs tacked on two more runs from a Curt Smith RBI double and another RBI double from Brian Joynt.
Sioux Falls answered back in the bottom of the third as they went on to score four runs. Vickash Ramjit roped an RBI double followed by a two-run homerun from Harrison Kain. David Bergin also hit a solo homer over the right field wall for the fourth run of the inning.
The Saltdogs secured three runs in the top of the fourth when Matt Forgatch hit a two RBI single. Lincoln managed to score the last run of the inning on an error committed by Jeremy Strawn.
The Canaries did pick a run in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings when Brian Humphries singled to score Harrison Kain. In the bottom of the seventh, Jason Repko hit a towering solo homerun over the left field wall to cut the Saltdogs lead by one.
Lincoln tried to put the game out of reach in the top of the eighth when Curt Smith hit a grand slam that pushed the Saltdogs lead to five. The Birds' didn't go down without a fight in the bottom half of the inning as they went on to plate four runs. Brian Humphries hit an RBI single to start off the inning, followed by an RBI single from RJ Perucki and Tyler Shover. The final run in the inning came when Vickash Ramjit hit into a fielder's choice.
In the bottom of the ninth, Richard Stock hit a double into deep center field to start off the inning. Soon after, Brian Humphries followed with an RBI double to tie the game at eleven apiece. Canaries' veteran Jason Repko hit the first pitch he saw into deep left field to drive in Brian Humphries to give the Birds' their fourth walk-off hit of the season.
Canaries' starter Jeremy Strawn (2-5, 4.89 ERA) recorded the no-decision as he threw six innings on ten hits while giving up five earned runs. Sioux Falls closer Chase Johnson (2-0, 1.59 ERA) picked up his second win as he tossed one inning of relief while striking out three Lincoln batters.
The Birds' will send Joe Bircher (2-3, 3.80 ERA) to the mound in search of his third win of the season. Sioux Falls will welcome MLB All-Star Jack Clark to the Birdcage on Tuesday night for a meet and greet autograph session beginning at 6:00 PM.
