Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
JACKSONVILE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns (5-5, 34-45) and Chattanooga Lookouts (1-8, 44-33) game on Monday night from Bragan Field was suspended due to rain in the top of the fifth inning with the Lookouts leading 3-0. The game will resume at 5:35 p.m. ET, to then be followed by a seven-inning contest marking game four of the series.
The scoring would begin in the top of the first, after Stephen Wickens collected a double, to then steal third. That was soon followed by a walk to Kennys Vargas that put runners on the corners for Max Keplers' fielder's choice RBI groundball leaping the Lookouts in front 1-0.
In the top of the fourth, Kepler reached on an error by second baseman Terrence Dayleg, then to get knocked in courtesy of Adam Brett Walker's RBI double to make it a 2-0 Lookouts lead.
To lead off the fifth Aderlin Mejia (HR, 1) laced a line drive solo home run into the bleachers in right to push Chattanooga's scoreboard advantage to 3-0. Shortly after the home run, the rain would fall and suspend play.
Following the suspended game starting at 5:35 p.m. ET, the Suns will send out left-hander Matt Tomshaw (3-5, 2.78 ERA) while the Lookouts will counter with lefty David Hurlbut (3-4, 6.37 ERA) in the nightcap beginning 30 minutes after the completion of game one.
