Hawks Hit Parade Handicaps Indians

Spokane, Washington - The Boise Hawks hit and often on Sunday afternoon, beating the Spokane Indians by a score of 11-2.

The Indians leadoff the game with a single from Darius Day followed by an RBI double from Leon Byrd to take a 1-0 lead off Hawks starting pitcher, Logan Sawyer.

Sawyer settled down to retire the next eight batters he faced and eventually picked up his second win of the season, pitching seven innings and giving up one run on just four hits.

The Hawks tied the game on a solo home run from Carlos Herrera in the third inning before taking the lead on an RBI single from Tyler Follis in the fourth.

The Hawks proceeded to score in each of the last four innings, totaling nine runs over that time.

In the sixth inning, Eric Toole hit an RBI sacrifice fly and Kevin Padlo added a two-RBI double off the wall in left field to give the Hawks a 5-2 lead.

The Hawks added one run on a wild pitch in the seventh inning before a fielder's choice and another Kevin Padlo RBI moved the score to 8-1.

The Indians added one run in the bottom of the eighth inning before the Hawks broke it wide open on a Terry McClure two-run homer followed by a Herrera RBI single to give the Hawks the 11-2 victory.

Peter Fairbanks got the start and took the loss for the Indians, pitching four innings and giving up two runs on nine hits with one strikeout.

The Hawks and Indians square off in game three of this five game series tomorrow at 8:30 p.m.

Notes: The Hawks smacked a season-high 21 hits in the game... Kevin Padlo added three RBI's to his league-leading total of 19... Yonathan Daza went 4 for 5 to increase his league leading average to .418... Terry McClure also went 4 for 5 with his second home run of the season.
