Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release

WALDORF, Md. - The Sugar Land Skeeters dropped their final two games in the first half against Southern Maryland. Last night, Sugar Land dropped a 4-3 extra-inning decision after claiming the lead in the top of the ninth. Today, the Skeeters fell 10-3 after giving up six runs in the bottom of the sixth.

In last night's action, the Blue Crabs struck for two runs in the bottom of the first before Delwyn Young cut the deficit in half in the top of the fourth with a solo home run.

Both pitching staffs settled in and kept the opponents off the scoreboard until the top of the ninth. Trailing 2-1, Joe Benson singled to start the inning and stole second before Russo legged out an infield single to third. Chris Wallace tied the game with an RBI single to right. Johan Limonta gave Sugar Land its first lead of the game with an RBI single into center, scoring Russo.

The Blue Crabs would rally to tie the game, however, on a one-out error at second. With John Lujan on the mound for the bottom of the tenth, the right-hander got two quick outs before giving up back-to-back singles and an intentional walk loaded the bases. Casey Frawley poked an RBI single into center to give Southern Maryland a walk-off, 4-3, victory.

In today's series finale, Southern Maryland put up six runs in the bottom of the sixth after trailing, 2-1. James Parr surrendered six runs on six hits over 0.2 of an inning, allowing the Blue Crabs to put the game out of reach.
