Green Bay, Wis.- Parker Hamilton (RHP/Florida Gulf Coast) (2-1/2.0ERA/26 1/3IP) takes the mound against the Growlers' Ryan May (RHP/LSU) (0-2/5.09ERA/23.0IP) as the Bullfrogs (24-15/2-2) start another road series in Michigan. The First game is slated for 4:05 CST from Homer Stryker Field and the broadcast can be heard on WOCO 107.1FM.

Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow; Bullfrogs Look To Move Past 14-4 Loss

On America's birthday, the Bullfrogs lost 14-4 to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (16-18/1-3). 14 runs was a season high for Bullfrogs pitchers as was 14 walks (also NWL season high).

Six different Bullfrogs pitchers were used en route to the loss as starter Chad Dullnig (Ranger College) was bounced after 1 2/3IP largely because of ineffective defense that committed three errors behind him in the second inning alone. All of the six runs he surrendered were unearned.

Wisconsin Rapids was led by Ernie Clement (Virginia) who finished 3-for-4 with two RBI, the second time in a row he tallied three hits.

And Jack Riley (UConn) (3-0/1.93) totaled 6IP/5H/4R(3ER)/3K-4BB giving way to Dimitry Shtykher (Russia) (SV1/ 5.14ERA) for the final three shutout frames.

The Bullfrogs split the series with the Rafters and play them next for two home games on July 27-28.

Hamilton Brings In Best Stuff To Kalamazoo

The state of Michigan was kind to Hamilton the last time on the mound after he went 6IP/5H/8K-3BB in an 8-4 win against Battle Creek. Hamilton will be able to pitch again in front of his family in Kalamazoo.

The start for Hamilton will set up an opportunity tomorrow for Garrett Harrison (LHP/St. Cloud State) as he looks to make an appearance for the first time since June 22nd.

A fearful Bullfrogs staff showed signs of weakness in the most recent series in which they gave up 25 total hits and 20 runs. And in the series, the Bullfrogs used nine different pitchers.

In yesterday's game, the Bullfrogs also welcomed new players Mason George (Texas-San Antonio) and Chad Dullnig (Ranger). While it was hard to judge Dullnig's short start marred by errors and a few walks, Geroge looked good behind the plate and reached base two times. George and Desi Ammons (Belmont) are now the two primary catchers with the loss of Franco Guardascione (Jacksonville).

Brian Celsi (California) also got his bat going with his first hits in his third game with the team. He was 2-for-4 on July 4th with a smoked double to left-center and low liner right up the box. The outfield for Green Bay is arguably the deepest, fastest, and most experienced in the league.

Mikey Duarte (UC-Irvine) hit a solo home run last game, the 10th of the year for the Bullfrogs, a coming out party for Duarte who missed over a week after a hit-by-pitch in the jaw. Defensively, he makes the infield landscape for Green Bay immaculate, with Ty Blankmeyer (St. John's) or Jack Strunc (Washington Sate) usually rounding out the keystone combination.

Growlers Aren't Growling In Second Half Either

Kalamazoo has been last in the Northwoods League in team batting average (.211), ERA (5.67), and fielding percentage (.945) for most of the season. With numbers like that, it is hard to ascend in the standings.

The Growlers have some new additions since the Bullfrogs last played them (split series on June 5-6). Corey Dempster (USC) is hitting .310 (13-for-42) and joins the outfield with start-of-the-season players like Nick Yarnall (Pittsburgh) and Kory Brown (Bowling Green State).

Other contributions are chipped in from veteran infielder John Soteropulos (California) who brings a .269AVG (25-for-93) to the team with five doubles.

But no regular starter has hit over .300 and even more have hit well below .200. The core of the lineup hasn't changed but with Max Schuman (Utah) (.193), Bryce Adams (LSU) (.144), Kory Young (Bowling Green State) (.101) all with over 60 at-bats and minimal production the Growlers have failed to gain any consistent edge.

They will turn to a bullpen arm Ryan May (LSU) for the start. He went three scoreless innings of relief against Battle Creek as a middle-innings arm his last outing. May has pitched no more than 4 1/3IP this season. He has struck out only 11 batters in 23IP.
