Great Falls Voyagers News Release

GREAT FALLS, Mont. - The Great Falls Voyagers rode one of their strongest pitching efforts of the season to a 4-2 victory over the Missoula Osprey Saturday night in front of 3,087 at Centene Stadium.

Great Falls (9-6) wasted little time in grabbing the lead, scoring the game's first runs in the bottom of the first. With two on, Antonio Rodriguez launched a homer to right for his second long ball in as many days and third of the year, to put the Voyagers up 3-0.

The three runs proved to be enough for Great Falls as they got strong pitching all game long. Starter Zack Erwin allowed the Osprey (10-7) to score a run on consecutive two-out hits in the second, but otherwise was solid in three innings of work in his first pro start.

Brandon Magallones (1-0) relieved Erwin, and the righty turned in a sparkling effort in relief, twirling a career-high four scoreless innings, and striking out a new career-high five Osprey to earn the win out of the bullpen.

The Voyagers added another against Osprey starter Anfernee Benitez (0-2) in the fifth. Johan Cruz singled, went to second on a wild pitch, then came around to touch home on an RBI single by Jake Jarvis, who collected his team-leading 16th RBI.

After Magallones left, Great Falls turned things over to Lucas Shearrow who gave up a run in the eighth, before retiring the Osprey in order in the ninth to record his first minor league save.

The Voyagers and Osprey wrap-up their series with a matinee affair on Sunday at Centene Stadium. Right-hander Evin Einhardt (0-1, 5.52) will be on the hill for Great Falls, while Missoula will counter with fellow righty Scott Schultz (0-1, 5.59). First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., and coverage will begin at 12:45 on 1400 AM KXGF and gfvoyagers.com.
