Garcia, Claws Blank Suns on 4th of July

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Elinery Garcia threw seven scoreless innings and Drew Stankiewicz hit a 2-run home run as the BlueClaws topped Hagerstown 6-0 on Saturday night at FirstEnergy Park.

The BlueClaws (5-5/38-40) have won two straight games while Hagerstown falls to 4-6/39-39.

Garcia (6-6) has now thrown seven scoreless innings in each of his last two starts and has lowered his ERA to 3.08, its lowest point since his first start of the year.

Lakewood got on the board with a two-run double by Derek Campbell in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Scott Kingery followed with a SAC fly to put the BlueClaws up 3-0. In the third, Cord Sandberg's RBI single put Lakewood up 3-0.

The BlueClaws added two more in the fourth on the first home run of the season by Drew Stankiewicz. It was his second professional home run after the shortstop hit one last year with Williamsport in the NY-Penn League.

Cord Sandberg went 3-4 as well in the win while Stankiewicz and Kyle Martin each had two hits for the BlueClaws.

The series with Hagerstown continues on Sunday night at 7:05 pm. RHP Shane Watson (--) makes his first start of the year and opposes RHP Austen Williams (7-1).
