Lancaster JetHawks News Release

LANCASTER, Calif. - For the second night in a row, the JetHawks came from behind to defeat the Inland Empire 66ers, 9-6, in front of a sellout crowd of 5,722 on Friday night at The Hangar.

Mott Hyde, Jacob Nottingham, Ronnie Mitchell and Marc Wik all collected two hits each for the JetHawks (42-36), who salvaged the series split with the 66ers (37-40). Wik led the way with three runs batted in, including his fifth home run of the season.

With Lancaster trailing by four runs in the bottom of the third inning, James Ramsay was hit by a pitch with one out and moved to third on a Hyde double. Derek Fisher drove in the JetHawks' first run with a groundout, and after a walk to A.J. Reed, J.D. Davis brought Lancaster within one run on a two-run triple.

Wik tied the score at 4-4 in the fourth inning with a two-out solo home run. Ramsay followed with a single and scored on a Hyde triple to put the JetHawks in the lead. Fisher then beat out a RBI-infield single to chase 66ers starter Garrett Nuss (0-5) from the game. Over 3.2 innings, Nuss yielded six runs on six hits and four walks.

After Inland Empire scored a run in the top of the fifth, Wik extended Lancaster's lead to three with a two-run double in the bottom half against reliever Trevor Foss. Nottingham hit his first Cal League home run off Foss in the bottom of the seventh.

The 66ers had jumped on JetHawks starter Evan Grills for four runs in the top of the first inning. Bo Way drew a one-out walk, and after a strikeout, four consecutive hits by Andrew Daniel, Kody Eaves, Roberto Baldoquin and Caleb Adams plated one run each.

Andrew Walter (2-1) earned the win after taking over in early relief of Grills, who exited in the second inning due to an apparent injury. Walter limited Inland Empire to one run on one hit over three innings and struck out four.

Aaron Greenwood recorded the save after pitching two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out two.

The JetHawks open a three-game series on the road against the Lake Elsinore Storm on Saturday. Lancaster will send Bryan Radziewski (1-2, 3.40) to the mound against Lake Elsinore's Matt Shepherd (2-4, 5.43). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
