Captains Shut Out by Lugnuts

Lake County Captains News Release
(Eastlake, OH) -The Lake County Captains were shutout by the Lansing Lugnuts, 4-0, in front of the biggest crowd of the season at Classic Park. 7,886 fans watched as the Captains were held to just three hits and committed three errors while dropping their third in a row and second straight to Lansing.
Lansing would get on the board in the top of the second inning. Dawel Lugo started the inning with a base hit. He would score from first when Boomer Collins tripled into the leftfield corner. Collins would also score on a passed ball later in the inning for a 2-0 Lansing lead.
In the top of the third inning, Alex Maldonado reached on a two base throwing error by Taylor Murphy. A ground out would move Maldonado to third. He would then score on Ryan McBroom's RBI sacrifice fly to put the Lugnuts up 3-0.
Lansing would get their final run in the top of the fourth inning. With two outs, Mike Reeves walked. Justin Atkinson would then double to put runner at second and third. Reeves would score from third on a wild pitch for a 4-0 lead.
Lake County's offense was limited to just three hits. Anthony Santander singled in the first inning. With two outs, Steven Patterson singled and stole second. Francisco Mejia would also single to lead off the eighth inning. The Captains would strand a total of six runners on base.
Justus Sheffield (6-2) took the loss after going 4.2 innings. He allowed 4 runs, 2 earned, on 4 hits. He walked 2 and struck out 6. Justin Garcia would then follow with 3.1 innings of relief. Garcia would not allow a run while striking out 2. He allowed just 1 hit. Cameron Hill would pitch 1.0 inning in relief. He allowed 1 hit. Hill walked 1 and struck out 1.
The Captains and Lugnuts will head to Lansing on Saturday night. The Captains will send Anderson Polanco to the mound. First pitch is at 7:05pm and can be heard on 1330AM WINT.
