Late Rally Drives Frisco Past Naturals, 9-6

FRISCO, Texas. - The Northwest Arkansas Naturals (43-35/3-5) dropped game two of the three game series on Friday night to the Frisco RoughRiders (33-45/4-4) by a final score of 9-6. Naturals third baseman, Hunter Dozier, hit his seventh home run of the season and drove in four runs in the loss.
Northwest Arkansas jumped out to a 4-0 lead off Frisco's starter Jake Thompson using a two-run single by Raul Mondesi and a two-run double by Dozier to take the advantage.
Right-hander Christian Binford twirled 6.0 innings of work, allowed two runs on five hits with four strikeouts; but did not factor in the decision as he left the game with a 4-2 lead.
The RoughRiders cut the deficit to 4-3 with a single run in the seventh inning off Malcom Culver (2-3, 4.63) and then put up six runs on five hits on Culver and Benino Pruneda in the bottom of the 8th to take a 9-4 lead.
Dozier then dialed long distance as he blasted a two-run home run over the center field wall to make it a 9-6 final score.
The series finale will take place on Saturday, July 4 at Dr. Pepper Ballpark with left-hander Cody Reed (1-0, 1.50) making his second Double-A start against left-hander Andrew Faulkner (6-4, 5.01) for the Independence Day game.
The Naturals are 15-6 in series finales this season and 15-6 in game threes of series, as well.
