Roster Move: Stephenson Promoted to Louisville

PENSACOLA, Fla., - The Cincinnati Reds have announced the following roster changes for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos prior to tonight's game against the Jacksonville Suns. RHP Robert Stephenson has been promoted to the Triple-A Louisville Bats while RHP Nick Christiani is being reassigned from Louisville. RHP Carlos Gonzalez is being reassigned to the Daytona Tortugas.

Stephenson, the Cincinnati Reds' top prospect according to MLB Pipeline, is expected to make his Triple-A debut Friday night at Louisville Slugger Field. In 14 starts with Pensacola, he established a 4-7 record and a 3.68 ERA this season. In his final five starts of the first half, Stephenson went 2-2 with a 1.91 ERA and posted 40 strikeouts and 11 walks.

In 45 appearances for the Blue Wahoos since 2013, Stephenson was 11-19 with a 4.40 ERA earning Southern League All-Star honors in 2014 and 2015. He pitched in the MLB All-Sar Futures Game last summer and following the 2013 season, the Reds named him their Minor League Pitcher of the Year. He holds the franchise record with 140 strikeouts.

Christiani holds a 0-2 record with a 5.74 ERA this season in 22 games for Louisville. In 31.1 innings of work, he's posted 17 strikeouts and 24 walks. He has 13 MLB appearances under his belt for the Cincinnati Reds with three games in 2013 and 10 in 2014.

Gonzalez has made 21 appearances for Pensacola this year and is 2-3 with a 4.39 ERA.

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos have 24 active players on the roster.
