Zephyrs Fall to Chasers 5-2

PAPILLION, NE - Whit Merrifield hammered a three run second inning home run and the Omaha Storm Chasers defeated the New Orleans Zephyrs 5-2 in front of 7,754 fans at Werner Park.
Omaha starter Aaron Brooks limited the Zephyrs to three hits through the first six innings. The Z's nicked him for two runs in the seventh inning with a solo home run from Juan Diaz. Isaac Galloway singled and scored on a double from Austin Nola. Brooks improved to 5-4 on the season.
New Orleans starter Justin Nicolino returned following two games with the Miami Marlins. He allowed seven hits in the first three innings and got tagged for five runs over six innings in the defeat.
The Zephyrs are 37-42 on the season, trail Round Rock by nine games.
GAME NOTES
The Zephyrs left six men on base tonight and have left 592 on the season, fourth most in the league.
The Miami Marlins assigned pitcher Jose Urena to the Z's, Urena was 1-4, with a 4.04 ERA in the Major Leagues this season.
ON DECK
The Zephyrs will conclude the eight game road trip Friday at 7:05PM against the Omaha Storm Chasers. The Zephyrs will start RH Andre Rienzo (1-1, 2.79) vs. RHP Buddy Baumann (1-1, 1.80). Radio: WMTI 106.1 FM TV: CST #37
The Zephyrs return home on the Fourth of July. It will be the start of a four game homestand.
