Jason Martinson Named to I.L. All-Star Team

The International League announced Thursday that Syracuse infielder/outfielder Jason Martinson has been named to the 2015 All-Star Team. Martinson was one of 17 players selected by the International League office to play on the 30-man roster. He'll play for Chiefs manager Billy Gardner, Jr., the I.L.'s manager. This marks the first career All-Star recognition for Martinson.
Martinson, a 26-year-old from Bedford, Texas, has excelled in his first Triple-A year. He's played in a team-high 75 games, hitting .235 with 13 doubles, a team-high 10 home runs and 21 walks. On June 14th, Martinson homered twice in a win at Columbus. He's also hit two game-winning home runs, including a walkoff homer April 21st vs. Rochester, and he put together a 14-game on-base streak from June 6th-20th. Martinson has also played a career-high five positions in the field ??" third base, shortstop, second base, and for the first time as a professional, both left field and right field.
The Triple-A All-Star Game, featuring the International League and Pacific Coast League, will take place on Wednesday, July 15th at Werner Park in Omaha, Nebraska. The game will be broadcast live on MLB Network beginning at 8 p.m.
Martinson and the Chiefs return home Saturday for a Fourth of July matchup with the Pawtucket Red Sox, beginning a three-game series. Tickets for all games are available at 315-474-7833, syracusechiefs.com or in person at the stadium ticket office during regular business hours.
