PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns (3-3, 32-43) topped the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (2-4, 27-47) 6-2 Wednesday night from Pensacola Bayfront Stadium.

Jake Esch (W, 6-4) worked six and two thirds innings for Jacksonville relinquishing two runs (both earned) on four hits while walking two and striking out six. Wandy Peralta (L, 3-7) got the start for Pensacola and lasted two-thirds of an inning surrendering five runs (four earned) on five hits while walking one and not striking out a batter.

The scoring would begin in the top of the first after a lead off single from Kenny Wilson, that was soon followed by a RBI triple for Carlos Lopez, and a run-scoring single from J.T. Riddle, made it a 2-0 Suns lead. After a Matt Juengel single, and a David Adams walk it would load the bases for Viosergy Rosa RBI fielder's choice that gave the Suns a 3-0 advantage. Terrence Dayleg reached on a fielding error by Wahoos shortstop Juan Perez scored Juengel and provided the Suns with a 4-0 lead. Then Jake Esch lined a run-scoring base knock to right to complete the five-run first frame and exited Wahoos starter Wandy Peralta from the game.

In the bottom of the fourth Pensacola got on the board with courtesy of Juan Duran's RBI single that made it a 5-1 ballgame.

To the seventh and Matt Juengel (HR, 14) mashed his fourteenth home run of the year, a solo shot, that pushed the Suns scoreboard advantage to 6-1.

In the bottom of the seventh, Duran generated a one-out walk to then get knocked in by next batter Juan Perez's run-scoring triple make it a 6-2 contest.

In the bullpen for the Suns, Brian Ellington worked a scoreless inning and a third while Juancito Martinez manufactured a scoreless ninth.

The Suns and Wahoos will continue their series Thursday night at 7:35 p.m. ET from Pensacola Bayfront Stadium. The Suns will send out left-hander Matt Tomshaw (3-4, 2.81 ERA) while the Wahoos will counter with righty Daniel Wright (3-6, 5.47 ERA).
