NORWICH, CT-The Connecticut Tigers (6-6) defeated first place Lowell (10-3) by a score of 5-2 on Wednesday night.
Leading 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth Connecticut put the game away with a three-run inning. In the inning the first three batters reached and all three would end up scoring. Second basemen Brett Pirtle (2-5, RBI, R) and third basemen Josh Lester (1-4, RBI) both singled in runs. The final run of the inning scored on a sacrifice fly by right fielder Joey Havrilak to make it 5-0 Connecticut.

Connecticut added a second run in the bottom of the second inning. Shortstop Keaton Jones started the inning with a single and after singles by catcher Will Allen and first basemen Tanner Donnels the bases were loaded with nobody out. However, Connecticut only tallied a single run on a sacrifice fly by the designated hitter Jacob Kapstein.
Connecticut will travel to Lowell, MA tomorrow for the middle game of the three game series before returning home to wrap up the series on Friday. First pitch tomorrow night is set for 7:05.
