LAST TIME OUT: The Pelicans avoided an 0-6 road trip with an 8-4 come-from-behind win over the Winston-Salem Dash on Tuesday night at BB&T Ballpark...The Dash scored the first four runs, three of them coming on home runs, but the Pelicans scored four in the sixth to tie it and plated two more in the seventh and ninth innings to take the lead and run away with it...JOSH CONWAY and MICHAEL HEESCH combined for four hitless and shutout innings, earning the win and save respectively...JEIMER CANDELARIO led the offense with four singles and a hit-by-pitch...MARK ZAGUNIS reached and scored three times and drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning on a double.

THE CANDY MAN CAN: JEIMER CANDELARIO did something last night that only one other Pelican has done this year--collect four hits in a single game. MARK ZAGUNIS had done it twice previously. Candelario matched a career-high with the 4-for-4 night, smacking four base hits for the third time in his career and first since the second half of the 2013 season with the Kane County Cougars. His final two hits both drove in runs, he also scored a run, and was hit by a pitch.

A WIN IS A WIN?: Before last night, JOSH CONWAY had not won a ballgame since April 13, 2012. At the time, he was in college, playing for the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. After Tommy John surgury in 2012 in his final year of college, the right-hander out of Marlyand missed the 2012 season and then all of the 2013 season as well with another arm injury. Conway worked as a starter for Class A-Short Season Boise in 2014, making 13 starts but went 0-1. Coming back from a second surgury in two years, the Cubs limited his innings-per-start, so Conway never went the requisite five innings needed for a win as a starting pitcher last year; his season-high in innings was 3.0.

YOU WIN SOME, YOU STREAK SOME: Baseball can be a game of streaks, and the Pelicans snapped a five-game losing skid last night against the Dash in come-from-behind fashion. The team suffered one of its worst winless periods in recent years with a losing streak of eight games between 5/25-31 of 2013, and the club lost 12 of 13 games overall through 6/5. Remarkably, that club bounced back to win its next 13 of 15 games, including an eight-game winning-streak from 6/7-14. The streaks continued that season when the club won 9 of 10 games from 7/30-8/6, but then lost 11 of 13 at the end of August. Outside of that season, the Pelicans have not lost more than five in-a-row in the last five seasons from 2011-15. In that span, Myrtle Beach has collected 13 win streaks of five games or more. Last season, two of those triumphant runs lasted eight consecutive games.

SHAKE AND BAKE: The Pelicans made another roster move on Monday, adding C/1B CAEL BROCKMEYER from Class-A South Bend. The Midwest League midseason All-Star led the SB Cubs in HR (5) and 2B (16) at the time of the promotion, hitting .274 in 63 games. Brockmeyer joins RHPs JAMES FARRIS, DAVID GARNER, and JEREMY NULL (who started yesterday) who have all been promoted from South Bend since the All-Star Break. On Sunday, RHPs TYLER SKULINA and DUANE UNDERWOOD JR. as well as outfielder SHAWON DUNSTON JR. were all placed on the 7-day disabled list. RHP ZACH CATES was promoted to Double-A Tennessee on the first day of the second half.

WE DID WHAT?: Entering the road trip with one of the best road records in the minors, the Pelicans went just 1-5 in the six games, avoiding a winless road trip with an 8-4 come-from-behind win last night. The Pelicans still possess the best road record in the league but have now lost six of their last nine on the road, and 10 of their last 15 away from TicketReturn.Com Field.

JUNE SWOONS: Coming off one of the best months of May in the club's history with a 21-7 record, the Pelicans just posted their worst month since May 2010, going just 11-17 in June. In 2010, in the final year of the Braves system, the Birds went 58-82 and won just 26 games in the first half, losing a franchise-record 44 before the All-Star break. The club was just 10-20 in May, hitting .207 as a team during the month. The 3.61 ERA during the month this year was the highest of the first three months.

PROSPECT 9-PACK: Nine of players on the roster are ranked in the Cubs Top 30 prospects according to MLBPipeline.com's Prospect Watch and seven in Baseball America's Top 30. The balanced roster has four position players and four pitchers ranked: RHPs PAUL BLACKBURN (No. 24 MLB.com/No. 18 Baseball America), JEREMY NULL (28/NR), DAURY TORREZ (22/30), JEN-HO TSENG (8/11), DUANE UNDERWOOD (6/10), catcher VICTOR CARATINI (16/13), 3B JEIMER CANDELARIO (12/24), 2B DANIEL LOCKHART (No. 29/NR), and OF MARK ZAGUNIS (15/15). Baseball America also lauded a handful of Pelicans players with "Best Tools" labels. Caratini is the "Best Defensive Catcher" in the system according to the 2015 Prospect Handbook, CARLOS PENALVER as the "Best Defensive Infielder," Tseng has the "Best Control" and "Best Changeup," Underwood possesses the "Best Fastball," and Zagunis has "Best Strike Zone Discipline." They also list JUAN PANIAGUA as the top "Sleeper" prospect. Outfielders BILLY MCKINNEY (9/6) and JACOB HANNEMANN (21/17, and BA's "Fastest Baserunner,") were on the roster but have since been promoted. ANDREW ELY, named by BA as the "Best Defensive Player" from the Cubs 2014 draft class, was on the club's Opening Day roster but went down to South Bend.
