Devils Sign Defenseman John Moore

Newark, NJ - The New Jersey Devils today signed free agent defenseman John Moore to a three-year contract with an average annual value of $1,666,667. The announcement was made by Devils' General Manager Ray Shero.

Moore, 24, will enter his fifth National Hockey League season and sixth year as a professional. He split the 2014-15 season between the NY Rangers (38 games) and Arizona (19 games), combining for 2g-9a-11pts and 30 penalty minutes. The 6-3, 200-lb. defenseman was acquired by the Coyotes on March 1, 2015. Moore also won a Bronze Medal with Team USA at the 2015 World Championships, posting 0g-1a-1pt and four PIM in nine appearances. He has career totals of 9g-31a-40pts and 70 PIM in 230 career regular-season games with Columbus, New York and Arizona. Moore also has three assists and 18 PIM in 33 career playoff contests. He began his pro career in 2010-11 with Springfield (AHL), before making his NHL debut on February 5, 2011 with the Blue Jackets. Born November 19, 1990, the native of Winnetka, IL represented the Falcons in the 2011 AHL All-Star Game. Moore was Columbus' first choice and 21st overall selection in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He spent the 2009-10 season with Kitchener (OHL), and played two seasons, 2007-08 and 2008-09 with Chicago (USHL) where, in 2009, he was named the league's top defenseman and to the USHL First All-Star Team.
