Harrisburg Senators News Release
HARRISBURG, PA. - In conjunction with the Eastern League and the Portland Sea Dogs, the rosters for the 2015 Eastern League All-Star game have been announced. The Harrisburg Senators have three players named to the Western Division All-Star Team in the 2015 Sullivan Tire All-Star Classic on July 15 at Hadlock Field in Portland. The Harrisburg Senators' representatives for the game are pitchers Austin Voth and Paul Demny along with catcher Pedro Severino.
Austin Voth (3-5, 3.69) has been Harrisburg's most reliable starter this season, leading the team in starts with 14 and innings pitched with 83. Voth is currently second in the Eastern League in strikeouts with 78 and has eight quality starts. Voth, 23, was the only member of the Washington Nationals' 2013 draft class to start the season with Harrisburg. He was selected in the fifth round out of the University of Washington.
Paul Demny (2-3, 1.72) has been nearly untouchable out of Harrisburg's bullpen this season. Demny leads all Eastern League pitchers in batting average against, as opponents have hit .132 against the right-hander. Demny has struck out 32 in 31.1 innings and has allowed an earned run in only four of his 21 appearances. From May 2 to June 9, Demny had a streak of 18 consecutive scoreless innings. Demny was selected by the Nationals in the sixth round of the 2008 draft out of Blinn College (Texas).
Pedro Severino is hitting .251 with seven doubles, three home runs and 24 RBI. Since a start to the season of six hitless games, Severino has hit .284 with an on-base percentage of .339. His defense, however, has been his calling card. Severino threw out the first eight runners that tried to steal on him in 2015, and is currently second in the Eastern League in caught stealing efficiency, throwing out 37.9 percent (22-for-58) of potential base stealers.
The Senators box office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available via telephone during the same hours as the box office hours. Tickets are also available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, online at www.senatorsbaseball.com.
