Salt Lake Bees News Release

SALT LAKE CITY (July 1, 2015) - The Pacific Coast League announced today its roster for the 2015 Triple-A All-Star Game and Salt Lake catcher Jett Bandy will represent the Bees. Bandy is tied for the team-high with 37 RBIs and is second on the club with seven home runs.

The Triple-A midsummer classic will be held at Werner Park in Omaha, Nebraska, on July 15. The 28th annual Triple-A All-Star Game will be nationally televised live on MLB Network at 8 p.m. MT.

After spending the past two seasons in Double-A Arkansas, Bandy has thrived in his first Triple-A season. He is currently hitting .269 with a .451 slugging percentage, his best averages since rookie league, and his 37 RBIs are just nine shy of his career high (46) at the mid-point of the season. The catcher went on a tear in in May, hitting safely in eight of 10 games from May 6-21, and collected a .486 average with three home runs and 17 RBIs. He ended the month with a .319 average.

A 31st round draft selection in 2011 from the University of Arizona, Bandy has quickly made his way through the Angels minor league system. This marks the second time Bandy has been named a mid-season all-star, also garnering Texas League All-Star honors in 2013. Representing Arkansas and the North Division, Bandy went one-for-two as the starting catcher and played alongside current Angel teammates C.J. Cron and Jeremy McBryde. Bandy was also named an Angels Organization All-Star in 2014.

Bandy is the 33rd Triple-A All-Star in franchise history and the fourth Salt Lake catcher to be selected, joining George Williams (1999), Jose Molina (2002) and Wil Nieves (2004). The West Hills, California, native joins other previous notable Salt Lake All-Stars, including Efren Navarro (2013), Kole Calhoun (2012), Mark Trumbo (2010), Howie Kendrick (2006) and Todd Walker (2000).

The Bees return to Smith's Ballpark on July 4 for a four-game series against the El Paso Chihuahuas. The Bees will wear camouflage uniforms to celebrate Independence Day with a fireworks show to follow the game. For more information or tickets, visit www.slbees.com.
