The Bend Elks power and run scoring prowess continues. The Elks beat the Klamath Falls Gems 13 to 3 in West Coast League action Tuesday evening at Kiger Stadium in Klamath Falls . The Elks scored 13 runs on 22 hits, including a grand slam home run from West Tunnell and a 2 run homer from Cadyn Grenier. Each Elk that went to the plate tonight found a way to get on base, with 8 elks scoring at least one run. The Elks now lead the WCL in runs scored with a total of 206 runs for the season.The next closest team in that category is Yakima, with 129 runs. The Elks now lead the league with .336 team batting average.

Jake Forrester ( 1-0) took the mound for the Elks, his second start of the season, and earned his first win. Forrester pitched a solid 6 complete innings, giving up no runs and only 3 hits, walking 3, while striking out 5 of the 23 Gems he faced tonight.

The South Division leading Elks now have a 18-4 record, the best in the WCL and continue play against their division rival Klamath Falls Gems, Wednesday night at Kiger. The second game of the 3 game series is set to start at 6:35 PM.
