Both Teams Pitch Shutouts in Doubleheader

Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
OMAHA, Neb. - After getting shut out in the first game of a modified doubleheader by a score of 6-0, the Omaha Storm Chasers (42-37) returned the favor to the New Orleans (36-41) with a 3-0 blanking in the seven-inning nightcap. Omaha has won eight of the first 13 games in the season series with the Zephyrs.
In a Werner Park first, the Storm Chasers played as the road team completed the nine-inning game from June 14 that was suspended at New Orleans. The Zephyrs jumped all over Yohan Pino with three homers, one in each of the first three innings, tied for the most given up by any Storm Chasers pitcher this season. Pino was bested Zephyrs pitcher Pat Misch, who tossed eight scoreless innings (technically in relief) to hand Omaha their fifth shutout loss of the season.
In the second game on the night, Clayton Mortensen was superb over his six scoreless innings to earn his first victory as a starter since April 19. Mortensen worked out of two jams in the fifth and sixth innings to keep the Chasers ahead, before giving way to Scott Alexander in the seventh inning to earn his fifth save this month. Three of the five wins for Mortensen this season have come against New Orleans, including two in seven-inning doubleheader games.
Matt Fields got Omaha on the board in the fourth of Game 2 with a solo homer, his first long ball since May 21, while Gabriel Noriega and Whit Merrifield extended the lead in the sixth with RBI singles. Because the completion of the suspended game goes in the record books as played on June 14, the Storm Chasers are currently riding a three-game win streak and have pitched shutouts in two of their last three contests.
Royals RHP Yordano Ventura will make his second MLB Rehab start for the Storm Chasers tomorrow, and will face off with Zephyrs RHP Kendry Flores (2-3, 5.34 ERA). First pitch on 1180 Zone 2 The Deuce and MiLB.TV is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
