Otters Take Cernak in First Round of Import Draft

The Erie Otters selected Erik Cernak with the 54th pick in the first round of the 2015 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.

Cernak, a 6'3", 211 pound defenseman, is a native of Kosice, Slovakia. He recorded five goals and 13 points with HC Kosice during the 2014-15 season. The right handed shooting defender was selected by the Los Angeles Kings 43rd overall in the second round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

The 18-year-old suited up for Slovakia in six games at the World Junior Championships this past year and tallied two assists.

The Otters will use their second round pick (114th) later in the CHL Import Draft.
