Steelheads Select Alexander Nylander 12th Overall In

Mississauga, ON - With their first round in the 2015 CHL Import Draft, the Mississauga Steelheads are proud to announce that they have selected left winger Alexander Nylander (12th overall).

Alexander Nylander was born March 2, 1998 in Calgary and grew up in North America before his family moved back to Europe; they currently live in Stockholm, Sweden.The 5'11, 172 lb left winger had 40 points (15 goals, 25 assists) in just forty-two games with the AIK's U-20 club this past season. A member of Sweden's U-17 roster at the WHC this past year, Nylander recorded two goals and five assists in six games en route to a bronze medal. Fighting Saints director of scouting, Mike Field describes Nylander as "a guy that you could get pretty excited about, just from his pedigree and watching him on the world stage."

Alexander is the brother of the Steelheads' first-round pick from last year's CHL Import Draft, and Toronto Maple Leafs first-round pick from the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, William Nylander.
